A few weeks ago, we started a photo experiment in collaboration with C 41 Magazine. The idea behind the project was to give 5 strangers from different backgrounds an iPhone with ProCamera and see what they come up with…

In this post, we only display a small selection of the photos, that have been taken in the last couple of weeks. Each of the photographers had their own thematic focus and photographic approach. Therefore, it’s really interesting to check out the whole series of photos to find out how the captures here fit in with the general context.

Jui Kun Weng

“Hi – I’m a student from Taipei, Taiwan. I like to show places from the city where I was born (1994) and raised. This is the place where I want to live.”

Lucia Rinaldi

Lucia Rinaldi was born in Modena, Italy, in 1991. She started to become familiar with photography at a young age because of her father, a self-taught photographer.

Monique Malone

Monique Malone is a fashion photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. Exclusively for this editorial, she used an iPhone camera.

Camilla Anne Jerome

“I am 24, working, and living in Boston, MA. I graduated with my BFA in Photography from Lesley University College of Art and Design (formerly the Art Institute of Boston). This is my new series shot with an iPhone.”

Luca Rotondo

Luca Rotondo is a young photographer based in Milan. He starts dedicating himself to photography in 2010, focusing his research on landscape ― mainly, urban landscape. Recently, he’s on portraits as well. Luca collaborates with communication agencies, companies, architects, and magazines.

LowLight Plus – ProCamera Instagram Challenge

First of all, we want to thank everybody who participated in our June 2016 Instagram challenge. It was great to see new #lowlightplus photos roll in from all around the globe on a daily basis. Feel free to continue using the hashtag for your favorite photos shot in LowLight Plus camera mode and remember to tag us with @procamera_app.

In the meantime, the ProCamera Jury has had a look at each individual submission, and these are the final winners:

First Place: Outstanding night time capture, which demonstrates that motion blur can be used as a powerful design element. A reminder for ourselves, that we don’t always have to go for those tack sharp images. Panning shots require a combination of experience, luck and perseverance – and in this case all three factors really came together. Very well done!

Second Place: Beautiful Mt. Fuji just before sunrise. The first rays of sunlight start to hit the top of the volcano, while the city still lies asleep. Sometimes, getting up early is a good idea!

Third Place: This one was taken after sunset and is a prime example of the capabilities of ProCamera’s LowLight Plus camera mode. A few years ago, a photo like this would have required a big and expensive DSLR camera. Now, all you need for this fits in your pockets: A litte smartphone tripod + an iPhone running ProCamera. Everything comes together in this photo: Composition, exposure, sharpness, and editing. After seeing it, I immediately wanted to experience the view from the Shard myself.

Besides our top 3 participants, we also want to mention Michael VanVooren’s extensive LowLight Plus test series, which he documented on Instagram. He used LowLight Plus in really dark environments and created great comparison photos.

Michael was also able to capture a beautiful halo around the moon, which was caused by tiny ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere:
